Bruce 750
Services Provided
Year of events & celebrations leading to July 2024, 750th Anniversary of Robert the Bruce's birth
Company Bio
North Carrick is celebrating the 750th Anniversary of the birth of King Robert the Bruce! So, Join us on the 15th July at 11am on
Maybole’s Glebe Park for an exciting trip back in time to the medieval ages for a great family
day out with something for everyone!
Maybole’s Glebe will play host to an arena with battle re-enactments, jousting, plus dancing and music, countless stalls and food vendors,
as well as plenty of FREE medieval themed activities for our young people to enjoy, including archery,
axe throwing and traditional calligraphy! The North Carrick Community Benefit Company have contracted a team to deliver the
Bruce750 Project and are so excited to see the plans come to life! ‘NCCBC’ is a funder and
development organisation made possible by Scottish Power Renewables, which is focused on
improving the area of Maybole and North Carrick! You can find out more about NCCBC’s
activities via their website: www.NCCBC.org.uk
But why Bruce? Well, 2024 will mark 750 years since the Birth of arguably Scotland’s greatest
King, Robert the Bruce. It is widely believed by a number of historians that Robert the Bruce
was born at Turnberry Castle in North Carrick, and it is a well-known fact that Bruce spent his
childhood at Turnberry and was connected to North Carrick over the course of his life, most
notably being the first Earl of Carrick when the title became associated with the crown.
North Carrick are celebrating this milestone by hosting a series of events which began in January 2024 with Brucie Burns Supper and a Quiz Tournament - with a Bruce Festival planned in Maybole for 13th July 2024. Don’t forget to follow us on social media to keep up to date with the
programme of events!

St Oswald’s is a friendly and active church in the town of Maybole, South Ayrshire. Although relatively few in numbers, members of St Oswald’s travel for miles from towns and villages surrounding Maybole to worship together and make a larger impact in our wider community than numbers might suggest. We are often noted for being a welcoming and caring church and are always happy to see new faces, whether you’re visiting or would like to find out more about us.
We are an inclusive church and welcome all regardless of age, gender, race, sexuality or belief.

We currently have 2 walking groups, a short walk less than 2 miles on a Friday and the bigger regular walking group who walk on a Wednesday and sometimes cover up to 6/7 miles. We also have a yoga group and members meet up at the Maybole swimming pool, but this is not an organised group. We also take members away on all day trips around Scotland and have been known to go on short 5 day holidays to Europe – but this was before Lockdown.

Crafting advice, and help. Wellbeing through crafting!
Company Bio
Crosshill crafters are a small fun group who meet weekly on a Wednesday. Come along with your latest work in progress and enjoy an afternoon of chat about all things crafty. We have lots of experience within the group. Knitting to 5d diamond art, crochet to water colour painting - are just a few. We are creating a stock of crafting accessories so that if someone would like to learn a craft we have the materials to help start their crafting journey.
We enjoy doing projects. Donating bonding squares and hats to Crosshouse Premature Baby Unit. We also made Easter chicks for Crosshill Primary And Early Years School. This year we would like to knit a Christmas Tree to put up in the local Church.
There is tea/coffee and biscuits (sometimes cake!) lots of laughs and a very warm welcome to all.
£1 per person.
