Volunteers Week in North Carrick!

#VolunteersWeekScot

VASA said: ''An amazing army of volunteers were honoured this week for their tireless work throughout the Covid pandemic.
To celebrate national Volunteers’ Week, VASA hosted three outdoor awards events – one in Kirkmichael and two at Rozelle in Ayr, to say ‘thank you’ to the local heroes who have stepped up to support people in communities across South Ayrshire.
Over the three events, 286 volunteers were treated to afternoon tea on the lawn, entertainment and a huge round of applause as their names were read out in a roll of honour.
''Paying tribute to the award winners, Marie Oliver, Chief Executive Officer of VASA, said: “The South Ayrshire Volunteer Awards are a chance for us to say a very big thank you to the people who give their time so generously to help others, and this past year has highlighted more than ever just how valuable their contribution is.
“Volunteers have been vital in supporting their communities through the pandemic and it is no exaggeration to say that we couldn’t have got through it without them.
“From delivering food and prescriptions to befriending calls and checking on the vulnerable and isolated, each one of our local volunteers has made a real difference and we hope these awards let them know how much they are appreciated.”
Congratulations to all our amazing North Carrick Volunteers!

Ayrshire Healing Centre Opens in Maybole!

The newly opened Ayrshire Healing Centre is a very exciting addition to Maybole with lots of amazing classes, therapies and treatments now on offer. Owner, Anya is excited to welcome new clients into the newly refurbished premises which has been completely transformed from how many may remember it as the old veterinary surgery!

The new space includes a meditation studio, space for yoga, treatment rooms for aromatherapy, massage and sound healing, amongst others. Yoga classes and 1:1 sessions will be available from Harmonise Yoga and the Healing Centre will also act as a Community Wellbeing Hub, more info coming soon!

The team would like to extend a huge thanks to Allan Dorrans MP who came to officially open the new centre!

Anya told us: ''I have had wonderful support from the local people of Maybole who have booked treatments and classes and taken such an interest in my new business . It’s quite daunting to be launching a brand new niche market business during a pandemic, Ayrshire Healing centre is the only multi disciplinary healing centre in the county but the support and interest has been fantastic and I have met so many lovely people already!''

Maybole Charity Shop – Renovations beginning soon!

Maybole Charity Shop and the flat above it have now been purchased by NCCBC, and plans are well underway to repair and renovate the property and get it back into use as the charity shop that so many local groups rely on!

Survey and design work is underway with aims of having contractors on site during the summer.

NCCBC have placed an A1 noticeboard into the shop window (design shown below) to inform passers by of the upcoming improvements to the shop, and are inviting everyone to spread the word that the charity shop will be back in action as soon as works have been completed to make it safe and attractive for customers once again!

Loves local Project

Loves local Project

Alongside the work on the new website for North Carrick, NCCBC and Maybole Community Council are also launching a North Carrick branch of the ‘Scotland Loves Local’ campaign. Our area has such an amazing variety of local businesses and this project intends to really showcase what North Carrick has to offer to visitors – when restrictions allow – but also to remind local residents of the incredible range of products and services available right on their doorstep. We hope that this campaign, alongside the new northcarrick.com website and e-commerce platform, will help our local economy to recover and thrive in the months and years ahead. Keep your eyes peeled for our campaign launching online and around the area this spring, featuring some familiar faces!

To find out more about our new website and the rest of our business recovery project follow ‘Improving North Carrick’ on Facebook or contact us via email on claire.northcarrick@outlook.com
